Job Summary

We are seeking a Preschool Assistant to join our team at Taylor School. The successful candidate will assist teachers in supervising and providing learning experiences for young children, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in planning, preparing, and collecting resource materials and learning activities.
  • Work with children individually and in groups, promoting their well-being and development.
  • Participate in and interact with children during learning experiences, fostering a positive attitude and self-image.
  • Assist with supervising indoor and outdoor activities, including arts and crafts, music, cooking, and field trips.
  • Set up tables for meals, assist with serving, cleaning up, and supervising children during meals.
  • Assist in caring for and maintaining materials, equipment, supplies, and toys.
  • Inform teachers of any apparent learning or behavioral problems and assist in meeting the special needs of children.
  • Greet parents, assist in acquainting them with the program, and help parent volunteers become involved in activities.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of proper child care techniques, basic techniques for interacting with children and adults, and first aid and safety requirements.
  • Ability to relate to children, assist them in age-appropriate activities, and understand and relate to children from varying ethnic backgrounds.
  • Interact and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Work in a team situation, read and write at the level required for successful job performance, and possess physical capability sufficient to perform job tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of college (minimum 48 semester units) or possession of an Associate degree or higher, or proof of certification through a local assessment that meets the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.
  • Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate within six months from the date of hire and a valid CPR Certificate is desirable.
