About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Preschool Assistant to join our team at Stockton Unified School District. As a Preschool Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our teachers and providing a safe and nurturing environment for our young students.

Job Summary

This is a part-time position that requires a high level of energy, patience, and creativity. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting teachers with lesson planning, supervising children during activities, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with planning and preparing learning activities
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, including arts and crafts, music, and physical education
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including setting up tables for meals and assisting with serving and cleaning up
  • Assist with caring for materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Inform teachers of any apparent learning or behavioral problems and assist in meeting the special needs of children
  • Greet parents and assist with acquainting them with the program as necessary
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years of college (minimum 48 semester units) or possession of an Associate degree or higher or proof of certification through a local assessment which meets the requirements of "No Child Left Behind"
  • 6 months of working with students
  • Valid First Aid Certificate required within six months from the date of hire
  • Valid CPR Certificate desirable
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 50 pounds. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of energy and patience.
