Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Commissioning Specialist to join our team at Qualus Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of commissioning and testing of protection & control schemes and systems for customers' electric utility substation and plant location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Red-line design documents throughout the drawing set, including Single Line, AC/DC Elementary, Wiring, Panel Arrangement, and Bill of Material/Material List.
  • Perform End-To-End testing, including IED testing, both manually and with operating automated test sets.
  • Identify common risks associated with testing and commissioning those schemes and systems.
  • Develop test plans, risk assessments, and practical application of basic protection & control systems and schemes.
  • Analyze scope and drawing interpretations to create comprehensive functional guidelines and risk assessments.
  • Lead people and tasks within a larger project, or provide technical and people leadership on projects with well-defined scopes of work.
  • Perform weekly site safety inspections.
  • Lead the application of HP with the approval of the Project Lead.
  • Support Company and Customer policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET university or Associates/ AET degree, degree with an emphasis on power systems preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in relay testing and commissioning in substations.
  • Experience in handling simple volt-ohm-meter and working with hand tools.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting One Line, AC & DC Elementary and Wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient computer, computer network, and Android/iPhone app skills: Microsoft Office suite of software, mapping drive letters for server connections, obtaining, installing, and connecting handheld device apps to 'The Cloud' or other locations as required.
  • Ability to perform regular field work in various work environments, conditions and weather.
  • Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
