Responsibilities

Job Summary:

St. Anthony Hospital has received recognition for its dedication to fostering a healthy work environment through professional growth, collaborative decision-making, leadership, safety, quality, and overall well-being.

Our Critical Care Unit features 16 private patient rooms designed for both ICU and PCU care. Each room is equipped with ceiling lifts, storage cabinets, and amenities to ensure the comfort of families wishing to remain close to their loved ones. All rooms are fully equipped to accommodate dialysis patients, and bedside documentation and medication verification are facilitated through computers located in each room. We utilize Epic as our electronic health record system.

Our patient demographic includes conditions such as gastrointestinal bleeds, diabetic ketoacidosis, acute renal failure, strokes, myocardial infarctions, and sepsis, among others. Our stable ICU patients and PCU patients receive care from our Franciscan Inpatient Team (FIT) providers, while our ICU patients are managed by our specialized Pulmonary Intensivists. Additionally, we benefit from 24/7 support from our Virtual ICU.

We promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration to foster professional development. Our multidisciplinary approach includes daily care meetings and patient rounds conducted by FIT providers and nursing staff.

The unit is overseen by an experienced Clinical Manager and a Clinical Coordinator, who work in tandem to ensure optimal operations. Charge Nurses provide essential clinical support, participate in rapid response situations, and lead code blue events. They also assist in maintaining unit workflow. Our team consists of Registered Nurses and Care Assistants, supported by Respiratory Care, Pharmacists, Physical and Occupational Therapists, and Dieticians. RN assignments are based on patient census and acuity, with typical RN ratios of 3:1 for PCU patients and 2:1 or 1:1 for ICU patients, complemented by CNA support.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred Previous experience in PCU/ICU or Medical/Surgical settings is preferred New graduates with a senior practicum in Critical Care will also be considered for residency roles Current RN license from the relevant state nursing board Current Healthcare BLS Certification through the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire CRN/CCRN certification is preferred
