Position Overview

The Family Medicine Physician Assistant plays a pivotal role in delivering healthcare services under the supervision of a physician, adhering to the established Standard Care Arrangement (SCA). This position requires a collaborative approach, working alongside physicians to assess, treat, and manage the health of diverse patient populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage clinical duties for designated shifts and patient groups, ensuring compliance with the scope of practice.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
  • Formulate and implement treatment strategies for both acute and chronic conditions.
  • Assist physicians in patient management, including daily rounds.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, recognizing normal and abnormal results.
  • Provide patient education and support throughout their treatment journey.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.
  • Continuously evaluate patient outcomes and modify care plans to enhance quality.
  • Coordinate care with the healthcare team, ensuring effective communication with patients and families.
  • Handle patient inquiries and follow up on complex care issues.
  • Document and adjust treatment orders as per the SCA.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated with the latest research and clinical practices relevant to family medicine.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for nursing and support staff.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and institutional policies regarding patient care.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Must hold a valid Physician Assistant license in the State of Ohio and national certification.
  • Skills: Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, are essential.

Work Environment

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent patient interaction.
  • Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting of patients.
