The YMCA of the USA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Association Director of Day Camps. This key leadership role will be responsible for leading the growth and development of 30+ day camps, managing standards for Association-wide day camp programs, and providing support to Executive Leaders and Program Directors to promote the organization's mission.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of day camp programs and services that meet the needs of Association members and communities.
- Manage the standards and quality of day camp programs across the Association, ensuring compliance with external accreditation entities such as the American Camp Association (ACA) and YMCA of the USA.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to Executive Leaders and Program Directors to promote the organization's mission and achieve its goals.
- Oversee the progress of program operations, ensuring quality and service delivery that meets the needs of Association members and communities.
- Develop and manage budgets for day camp programs, ensuring effective use of resources and achieving desired outcomes.
- Supervise and support staff, including Program Directors and other day camp leaders, to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
- Collaborate with field staff and Association departments to solve problems and achieve objectives.
- Identify and support compliance with aquatics best practices and manage the implementation of external and internal requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Assess program performance and aim to maximize return on investment (ROI).
- Coordinate association-wide and branch-specific staff trainings in cooperation with branches and Association departments.
- Act as a subject matter expert on Association policies and procedures, risk management, safety practices, and applicable laws relating to day camp.
- Lead by example, interacting with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Bachelor's degree in management or a relevant field, with a master's degree in a related field preferred.
- 5-10 years of related experience in program management, leadership, and staff supervision.
- Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods.
- Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project, etc.).
- Outstanding leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence.
