Position Summary:
The role of the Process Engineer is to provide specialized engineering knowledge in a cooperative setting to enhance the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations of our nitrogen fertilizer production facilities. Acting as the technical authority, you will collaborate with various engineering disciplines and operational teams to ensure that solutions align with overarching business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics of process units, focusing on key variables that influence plant efficiency, capacity, emissions, and safety.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of process and equipment performance to minimize operational disruptions and devise solutions for challenges related to process chemistry and equipment functionality.
- Enhance process performance through troubleshooting, data analysis, modeling, and providing technical support to the operations team.
- Execute comprehensive process engineering studies and offer robust support during the design and implementation of new systems and processes.
- Assist in prioritizing projects aimed at increasing production capacity, boosting energy efficiency, and improving environmental health and safety outcomes.
- Prepare and review essential documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications to facilitate capital projects.
- Evaluate and endorse new operational procedures and equipment limits, while also developing and delivering training for operational staff on significant changes and annual refreshers.
- Engage in Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and incident investigations to identify and implement safety and environmental solutions.
- Support Maintenance and Operations during turnarounds by providing engineering insights, assisting in planning, conducting inspections, and participating in plant restarts.
- Maintain effective communication and professional relationships across all departments and with plant personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in process engineering is essential, preferably within the chemical manufacturing, refining, or oil and gas sectors.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effective interaction across the organization.
- Willingness to gather field data and perform routine engineering tasks in a chemical facility environment is expected.
- Flexibility to work alternative schedules to support continuous operations, particularly during critical process activities.
