Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our clinical laboratory team at Wooster Community Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, process, and perform laboratory tests using various techniques, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Exercise independent judgment to prioritize and evaluate test requests efficiently.
  • Utilize knowledge of laboratory science techniques, attention to detail, and quality control to ensure accurate test results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Document patient testing and reporting of results accurately in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Board eligible or Board Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent registry.
  • No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months.
Preferred Attributes
  • Prior work experience in a clinical laboratory setting, including recent experience in multiple disciplines.
Work Environment

As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at Wooster Community Hospital, you will work in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment, interacting with healthcare team members, patients, and families. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment and follow safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Leadership and Communication

You will be expected to demonstrate leadership skills, including teamwork, adaptability, and conflict resolution. Effective communication with healthcare team members, patients, and families is essential in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Document patient testing and reporting of results accurately in the LIS.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and team collaboration.
