Job Summary

The Public Safety Security Officer works under the general supervision of the sergeant on duty and is responsible for maintaining campus security and safety. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe the campus for suspicious or unlawful activities and respond accordingly.
  • Direct traffic and oversee crowd control activities at school events.
  • Conduct regular inspections of campus buildings and grounds to ensure security and safety.
  • Respond to questions and requests for assistance from faculty, students, staff, and the general public.
  • Lock and unlock doors as requested.
  • Compile and maintain accurate written reports of incidents and investigations.

Requirements

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma and one year of security or help desk experience or a related field are required. Additional requirements may be determined by the agency for recruiting purposes.

Working Conditions

The Public Safety Security Officer will work in a fast-paced environment and be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
