Campus Police Officer Job Description

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Campus Police Officer to join our team. As a Campus Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce traffic and criminal laws, as well as parking regulations, on campus.
  • Protect students, faculty, and staff from harm, and prevent crime on campus.
  • Provide building security, including locking and unlocking doors, and conducting building checks.
  • Report and record crimes and violations, and ensure traffic safety on campus.
  • Assist and direct students as needed, and provide emergency services.
  • Monitor building access, and carry an assigned duty weapon and police radio.
  • Participate in training, including physical training and firearms.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • A valid Arkansas driver's license, and a safe driving record.
  • Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.
  • Pass a Mental and Physical examination.
  • Be free of a Felony Conviction(s).
  • Be free of Domestic Violence conviction in accordance with 18 USC section 922.
  • Be a US Citizen.
  • Be of good character, as determined by a thorough background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current certified law enforcement officer (by CLEST) or related field.
  • Law Enforcement Officer experience.
  • Any other specialized law enforcement training.
Work Environment:

The Campus Police Officer will work in a dynamic team environment, with frequent contact with employees, students, and the public. The position requires occasional exposure to hazardous and/or stressful situations, and shift work, including all weekends and holidays.

The Campus Police Officer must be able to stand for long periods of time in indoor and outdoor settings, and in all weather conditions. The position also requires the ability to give chase on foot, and apprehend and detain subjects as permitted by law.

The Campus Police Officer must be able to perform all job-related duties while wearing required uniform and duty equipment, including a body armor vest. The position also requires the ability to be recalled for duty at all times in case of emergency.
