Senior Principal Process Application Engineer

As a key member of the Global Sales and Services unit, the Senior Principal Process Application Engineer serves as the on-site expert in process applications, supporting customers in expanding ASM film opportunities on our installed systems. In this capacity, you will spearhead process development initiatives and facilitate new product introductions alongside our clients. You will act as a technical liaison between customer process development teams and our Business Unit's Process Application Development Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Engage in training with the Business Unit to gain expertise in newly developed deposition processes and equipment. Oversee the introduction and transfer of these processes to customer sites.
- Collaborate closely with field hardware teams and the Business Unit to address and troubleshoot issues related to new products, including proposing enhancements for equipment and process designs.
- Proactively escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely resolutions and adherence to project timelines.
- Document insights gained during NPI and collaborate with the Business Unit to integrate these learnings into future rollout packages.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to local service teams at manufacturing sites.
- Utilize process and equipment knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and leadership in escalations to ensure successful NPI equipment deployment at customer locations.
- On-site Process Development:
- Support customer deposition processes and hardware advancements, focusing on both new developments and continuous improvement projects.
- Work in partnership with customers to design and execute experiments that address their specific needs.
- Analyze existing baseline processes and system performance, identifying gaps relative to technology node requirements.
- Conduct problem assessments and root cause analyses of system performance issues at customer sites.
- Collaborate with customers to identify new opportunities for ASM processes and hardware integration.
- High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) Process Transfer:
- Oversee the transfer of processes to HVM fabs and the dissemination of product knowledge to local service teams.
- Document and maintain learnings from the development phase, developing and transferring best-known methods to HVM site teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.S. or PhD in chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or physics.
- 10+ years of industry experience in processing, developing, and characterizing thin films deposited using various deposition reactors.
- Proven experience with advanced troubleshooting and structured problem analysis methodologies.
- Experience in designing and conducting experiments, measuring, and interpreting experimental results.
- Ability to manage escalations, develop action plans, and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel for training and technical engagements.
- Strong understanding of Intellectual Property boundaries and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference for candidates with experience in optimizing film deposition and process development using ASM equipment.
