Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care services using diagnostic medical sonography. Your expertise will be essential in differentiating between normal and pathological findings, and communicating findings to physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Identify patients using two demographic identifiers and review physician orders for procedures to be performed.
- Check for appropriate clinical information and expected dates, as well as procedural contraindications.
- Perform all ultrasound procedures using independent judgment, ensuring accurate findings and high-quality imaging.
- Analyze sonograms, synthesizing sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to physicians.
- Maintain a sanitary and organized environment, ensuring proper disinfectant of endovaginally transducers and disposing of used supplies and bio-hazardous materials according to hospital policy.
- Assist in mentoring newly hired sonographers and instructing sonography students in departmental procedures and protocols.
- Perform quality checks on sonograms, recognizing issues and making recommendations for corrections.
- Completion of a radiology program or sonography program from an accredited institution.
- Credentialed Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Obtain one or more of the following credentials with ARDMS: Abdomen, OBGYN, and Pediatric.
- Knowledge of office equipment, data entry, and mathematical skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
This is a non-management position that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The work environment is fast-paced and requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
