Pharmacy Technician I Non-Certified

Job Summary
UNC Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I Non-Certified to join our team in Chapel Hill, NC. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will provide support to our pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This is a per diem position with a standard 8-hour workweek.
Responsibilities
- Compounds and/or prepares medications (sterile products, oral, topical, controlled substances, etc.) with the exception of high-risk medication processes as defined by the entity, as authorized by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Delivers exchanges medications to the respective patient area and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
- Documents pharmaceutical activities including patient billing for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, etc. using automated and paper systems. Ensures accuracy of data.
- Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy services such as medication delivery, drug information, etc.
- Operates and supports automated dispensing technology to supply correct medications for individual patients, according to pharmacist and physician orders.
- Orders, receives, restocks, and rotates inventory, and completes expiration date management.
- Contributes to process improvement projects.
- Completes regulatory compliance inspection of medication storage areas, including inspections and/or controlled substance inventories, USP797 and other regulatory documentation as required.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred. Active pharmacy technician registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire. Must obtain pharmacy technician certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) within 24 months of hire unless registered with the NCBOP as a pharmacy intern and actively enrolled in a PharmD program.
Work Environment
This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System with UNC Health benefits. If, however, you are presently an employee of another North Carolina agency and currently participate in TSERS or the ORP, you will be eligible to continue participating in those plans at UNC Health.
