Announcement Overview:
This position is open to the public and is a vital role within the Department of Revenue's Motor Vehicle Division.

Role Summary:
The selected candidate will serve as a Fiscal Control Specialist, executing essential financial management tasks to ensure the integrity of fiscal operations.

Reporting Structure:
You will report directly to the Accounting Technician Supervisor and will be tasked with the accurate and timely execution of fiscal control functions, including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and other general accounting activities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Balancing and reconciling financial records, statements, and reports.
  • Collecting revenues, processing payments, and accurately posting transactions to the appropriate accounts.
  • Compiling, preparing, and maintaining standard financial records and reports.
  • Providing necessary information and interpretations to external parties such as banks, auditors, vendors, and governmental entities.
  • Processing and recording financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, invoices, and requisitions within a ledger or computerized system.
  • Acting as a liaison to County Financial Officers.

Entry Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED along with three (3) years of relevant accounting or fiscal experience; or one (1) year of experience in a lower-level accounting position.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in accounting software for recording and reporting financial data.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in verifying calculations, reconciling daily collections with system reports, and recording expenditures.
  • Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with processing credit card chargebacks and returned checks.
  • Background in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Position Status:
This is an unclassified position with a competitive pay grade range.
