Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a Patient Services Representative to join our team. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Exceptional Patient Care: Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system, providing clear and understandable instructions, and ensuring the appropriate continuity of care.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative duties, including scanning medical records, faxing, and other office tasks.
  • Registration and Scheduling: Guide patients through the use of self-arrival technology or check-in patients at the desk, schedule or connect patients to resources for ancillary services, and confirm/verify insurance benefits.
  • Financial Responsibility: Assist patients in education of financial responsibility, connect them to advocacy resources as needed, and obtain signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Provide a warm greeting for all patients, register patients in the Biometrics program, and explain the benefits, confirm and/or update patient registration information, and appropriately distribute/triage phone calls.
  • Follow-up and Scheduling: Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice and complete high school graduation or equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with personal computer-based applications, and other office equipment, and proficient typing skills.
  • Two years of experience in a medical/billing/fiscal or customer service function.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems.
