Position Overview

The Family Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting families in need. This position involves:

  • Managing a small caseload of 4-6 families.
  • Conducting family sessions three times a week, tailored to the families' schedules.
  • Participating in three supervision meetings weekly.
  • Utilizing web-based documentation tools, including voice recognition technology.
  • Providing on-call support to families during weekdays and one weekend each month.
  • Traveling up to 60-80 miles to meet families in their homes.
  • Delivering therapeutic services in diverse community settings.

Additional Information

This role offers a flexible and non-traditional schedule, accommodating the availability of the youth and families served. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, have access to a personal vehicle for work-related tasks, and maintain auto insurance. Community-based staff will receive reimbursement for applicable mileage.

Qualifications for Family Intervention Specialists

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the Qualified Professional standard as defined by state regulations. The following educational and experiential criteria apply:

Master's Degree Applicants:

  • Must have a relevant master's degree at the time of application.
  • Must possess one year of full-time experience (2,000 hours) with the designated population, either pre- or post-graduation.

Bachelor's Degree Applicants:

  • Must have a relevant bachelor's degree at the time of application.
  • Must possess two years of full-time experience (4,000 hours) with the designated population, either pre- or post-graduation.

Licensed Applicants:

Must hold one of the following licenses in the state: LCMHCA, LMFTA, LCSWA, LPA, or LCSASA.

Accepted Degrees:

Degrees in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy are preferred. Exceptions may be made for other behavioral science degrees that include a minimum of 30 semester hours in relevant subjects.

Relevant Experience:

Experience must involve working with at-risk youth exhibiting behaviors such as truancy, substance abuse, suicidal ideations, and aggression. Clinical case management or therapeutic intervention experience is essential.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time-management abilities.
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in family therapy or providing Multisystemic Therapy (MST) services is advantageous.
