Position Overview

The Family Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting families through challenging times. This position involves managing a small caseload of 4-6 families, providing tailored interventions and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct family sessions three times a week, accommodating the schedules of the families.
  • Participate in three supervision meetings weekly to ensure quality of care.
  • Utilize web-based documentation tools, including voice recognition technology, for efficient record-keeping.
  • Be available for on-call support during the week and one weekend each month.
  • Travel up to 60-80 miles to meet families in their homes, offering services in diverse settings.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions in the comfort of families' homes, addressing a variety of needs.

Additional Information:

This role offers a flexible and non-traditional schedule, designed around the availability of the youth and families served. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work-related travel, and auto insurance. Community-based staff will receive reimbursement for applicable mileage.

Qualifications:

To qualify for the Family Intervention Specialist position, candidates must meet the Qualified Professional standard in North Carolina. Below are the educational and experiential requirements:

For Master's Degree Applicants:

  • Must hold a relevant master's degree at the time of application.
  • One year of full-time experience (2,000 hours) with the designated population is required.

For Bachelor's Degree Applicants:

  • Must possess a relevant bachelor's degree at the time of application.
  • Two years of full-time experience (4,000 hours) with the designated population is required.

Licensure Requirements:

Candidates must hold one of the following licenses in North Carolina: LCMHCA, LMFTA, LCSWA, LPA, or LCSASA.

Accepted Degrees:

Degrees in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy are preferred. Exceptions may be made for other behavioral science degrees with a minimum of 30 semester hours in relevant subjects.

Experience Requirements:

Experience must involve working with at-risk youth exhibiting behaviors such as truancy, substance abuse, aggression, or other challenges. Clinical case management or therapeutic intervention experience is essential.

Other Skills:

  • Strong written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience in family therapy or providing MST services is advantageous.

Compensation: Salary is competitive, ranging up to $50,000, depending on education and licensure.
