Position Overview:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering quality healthcare in the outpatient setting. This position involves providing essential clinical support to patients while working under the guidance of a physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive care to patients, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols.
  • Conduct patient triage via phone and in-person, facilitating smooth patient flow within the clinic.
  • Utilize electronic systems to prepare and maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Measure and record vital signs and medication histories accurately.
  • Assist in minor clinical procedures and perform various office tasks as required.
  • Manage prescription processes, including electronic submissions as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Coordinate scheduling for diagnostic tests and procedures as per physician orders.
  • Secure necessary patient referrals and authorizations using electronic health record systems.
  • Handle administrative duties such as answering calls, managing incoming communications, and completing necessary forms.
  • Monitor and communicate patient conditions and responses to treatments to the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and injections, utilizing medical equipment for patient care.
  • Maintain a well-organized medication sample area and liaise with pharmaceutical representatives.
  • Accurately document patient visits and ensure compliance with coding requirements.
  • Oversee environmental safety by monitoring equipment and managing waste disposal.

Qualifications:

  • Valid LPN license in the state of Virginia or a compact state.
  • Previous experience as an LPN is preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
