Patient Care Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Representative to join our team at Methodist Health System. As a Patient Representative, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our patient care facility.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion
- Greet patients in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
- Check-in patients, verify and update demographic and insurance information to the medical record
- Assist patients with ambulatory difficulties and follow office scheduling policies
- Collect payments and enter charges into the computer system
- Register new patients into the computer system and verify all patients' addresses, telephone numbers, and insurance information
- Answer telephone calls, screen calls, take messages, and convey information to appropriate parties
- Maintain work area and reception area in a neat and orderly manner
- Advise Practice Manager of problems and concerns in the Front Office and help in problem-solving
- Attend educational and staff meetings as scheduled
- Determine and input daily balance of charges and receipts as assigned by the Office Manager
- Knowledge of front office procedures and medical terminology
- Excellent grammar and spelling skills
- Knowledge in operation of medical office technology systems
- Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
- High school education or equivalent
- Strong communication skills with consistent incorporation of judgment and discretion
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred
- Previous two years in a front office using medical management software preferred
- Previous typing or data entry at 40 wpm experience
Work is performed in an office environment and requires both desk and counter work. Frequent contact with employees and outside agencies. Continual patient contact may involve dealing with angry and upset people.
