Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Care Practitioner to fill the role of Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner. This position will be responsible for leading a team of Respiratory Care Practitioners and providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Respiratory Care Practitioners and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Conduct quality audits and provide feedback to team members to improve performance.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Provide education and training to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in departmental committees and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
  • Four years experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with two years ICU, Neonatal and/or ER (preferred at HMCCH), and lead/supervisor experience.
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
  • RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner - State Licensure -- by the Texas Medical Board
  • RRT-ACCS - Registered Respiratory Therapist Adult Critical Care Specialty (NBRC) within 6 months
  • NPS - Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NBRC) within 6 months
  • CPFT - Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (NBRC) within 6 months
  • RPFT - Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (NBRC) within 6 months
  • RRT-SDS - Registered Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialty (NBRC) within 6 months
  • AE-C - Certified Asthma Educator within 6 months
  • TTS - Tobacco Treatment Specialist (NAAP) within 6 months
  • RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographer Technologist (BRPT) within 6 months
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation -- preferred, depending on area assigned
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA) -- preferred, depending on area assigned
Work Environment

This position will be working in a fast-paced hospital environment with a high level of patient acuity. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide exceptional patient care.
