About the Role

Amerantbank is seeking a highly skilled Market Risk Associate to join our Risk Organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, methodologies, and limits associated with market risk exposure for our Treasury activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Risk Analysis: Develop and maintain models to quantify the exposure of our balance sheet to interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and other market risks.
  • Risk Identification and Evaluation: Contribute to the identification and evaluation of market risks embedded in new products designed or proposed to acquire by our Treasury unit.
  • Exposure Monitoring and Control: Monitor and control different exposures related to our Treasury unit activities and the Investment Portfolio.
  • Risk Limit Proposals: Support the proposal of risk limits associated with interest rate risk, price risk, and liquidity risk of our Treasury activities.
  • Market Risk Methodologies: Propose market risk methodologies and guidelines to quantify and control market risk exposures.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Identify and report to immediate supervisor any current or prospective risk to earnings or capital arising from violations of, or nonconformance with laws, rules, regulations, prescribed practices, limits, targets, internal policies and procedures or ethical standards.
Requirements
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field. A master's degree or specialization in finance, economics, analytics, or risk management is preferred.
  • Experience: Candidates should have some experience or exposure in any financial industry areas (risk, finance, investment, or treasury management).
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge in programming with SQL, SAS, Posit, or Python is preferred. Experience in data visualization, such as PowerBI, is also required.
