Job Summary

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Shelter Manager to oversee the daily operations of our residential program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our clients, while also providing exceptional customer service and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train staff, volunteers, and clients to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the shelter
  • Conduct client intake procedures, including running background checks and preparing client records
  • Monitor client behavior and ensure compliance with shelter rules and regulations
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including HMIS and inventory logs
  • Coordinate with local agencies and organizations to provide support services to clients
  • Develop and implement programs to promote client engagement and empowerment
  • Collaborate with the corps leadership team to achieve program goals and objectives
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience in security or social services preferred
  • Valid state driver's license and food handlers certification required
  • Basic first aid certification and ability to respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines. The Shelter Manager will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, and may be required to travel to off-site locations.
