Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive mathematics curriculum that aligns with state and national standards for Pre-AP Algebra II, Precalculus, and Computer Science. Ensure that materials are culturally relevant and reflective of our student demographics.
  • Instructional Delivery: Provide engaging and effective mathematics instruction, utilizing diverse teaching methods to accommodate the varied needs of learners, including those with disabilities and multilingual backgrounds. Teach four classes daily.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Create and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress. Offer timely and constructive feedback to facilitate student improvement and monitor progress through standards-based evaluations.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning. Build strong relationships with students and maintain behavioral records.
  • Individualized Support: Offer additional assistance to students requiring extra help, including implementing accommodations for IEPs and 504 plans, and utilizing sheltered English immersion techniques for multilingual learners.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain open and culturally responsive communication with families regarding students' academic and social development. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and IEP meetings as necessary.
  • Professional Growth: Stay updated on advancements in mathematics education, engage in professional development opportunities, and contribute to the overall improvement of the school community through collaborative professional development sessions.
  • School Culture Participation: Actively engage in school culture activities such as community meetings and clubs, and fulfill weekly duties that support the school environment.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Possession of Massachusetts Teacher Certification for high school mathematics or an equivalent certification.
  • Experience teaching mathematics at the high school level, with a minimum of five years preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in high school curricula, such as Java, Python, or C++.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful classroom culture.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
