Radiology Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and personable Radiology Support Specialist to provide exceptional support to our direct and indirect care teams. As a key member of our radiology team, you will be responsible for ensuring patient information is accurate and complete, greeting patients, and facilitating the radiologists' access to previous images for interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with occupational health and safety policies, including BBF and TB exposure protocols.
  • Distribute daily schedules and retrieve mammography folders for digitization and PACS integration.
  • Separate and distribute radiology reports according to departmental policies.
  • Ensure previous mammography and breast ultrasound images are available for radiologists' interpretation.
  • Direct patients to dressing rooms, provide hospital gowns, and inform them of clothing and valuables procedures.
  • Scan signed authorizations for information release into RIS, make copies, and fax reports as requested.
  • Maintain waiting room and changing room areas, ensuring cleanliness and adequate linen supplies.
  • Enter patients into the department via computer system, verify order information, and scan physician orders into RIS.
  • Relay prep instructions to patients and answer telephone calls, taking and delivering messages.
  • Research computer files for new patients to determine the date of the last exam.
  • Utilize hospital PACS to retrieve patient images, print films, or burn CDs for transport to various departments.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical terminology course completion preferred.
  • Graduate of medical secretarial program preferred.
  • Previous experience as a medical secretary in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer and efficiency in keyboard operation required.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34.
