Interventional Radiologic Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Interventional Technologist to join our team at UPMC. As an Interventional Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our department.
Responsibilities:- Administer contrast agents in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
- Demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures.
- Exhibit a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations, and patient monitoring systems.
- Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required.
- Foster an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process.
- Communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help alleviate their fears and solicit their cooperation.
- Ensure all exams within your area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
- Interact with patients and coworkers in a professional and respectful manner, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
- Support other departments performing general radiographic procedures, if needed.
- Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
- CPR certification based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- ARRT VI certification required within 18 months of hire/transfer.
- ARRT Certificate, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Act 34 clearance.
