We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Law Enforcement Officer at the City of Acworth. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and providing exceptional service to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations.
- Respond to emergency calls, including domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, and other incidents.
- Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, and secure crime scenes.
- Apprehend and arrest offenders, and process them according to established procedures.
- Provide assistance and support to other officers and emergency service providers as needed.
- Assist motorists and provide traffic direction for events and activities.
- Testify in court proceedings as necessary.
- Complete all required reports and forms, including accident and incident reports.
- Attend ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; specialized training in law enforcement or a related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.
- Ability to graduate from the Police Academy and meet current requirements set forth by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, running, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee must occasionally lift light or heavy objects, use equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguish between shades of color, and use the physical force necessary to arrest and restrain persons.
The work is performed indoors, in a vehicle, and outdoors. The employee may be exposed to inclement weather, infectious diseases, and life-threatening situations. The work requires the use of specialized law enforcement equipment.
