Job Summary

Avenues Recovery Center is seeking a talented Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at our Extended Care facility. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals struggling with addiction.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct group therapy sessions, psychoeducation, and process groups to meet the unique needs of each client
  • Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to track client progress and address any concerns
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of clinical assessments and individual client charting

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid state licensure/certification required (LPC or LCSW)
  • Substance abuse experience necessary
  • Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Compassionate and dignified character that models recovery principles
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and set strong boundaries
