Construction Project Manager

SMSI is seeking two Construction Engineer III candidates to work onsite in Los Alamos, NM. As a Construction Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are executed in accordance with approved project documents. This involves monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities, providing input during scoping, design, execution, and project closeout, and expediting project execution by identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance to the constructor.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field verifications of construction work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes, and standards.
- Collaborate with design engineers and the constructor to resolve facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field.
- Develop and implement process improvements, and lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
- Develop Material Take Offs and ensure compliance with technical codes and standards.
- Independently lead others in the execution of their duties, and mentor junior Field Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university, and 6 years of practical work experience, or 14 years of industry experience.
- Current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable.
- The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, and able to obtain and maintain active Q clearance.
- Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular construction discipline.
- Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering.
- Welding experience or CWI is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, blue beam, and CAD is preferred.
