Position Summary:
As the Purchasing Manager, you will collaborate with our Purchasing team and organizational leaders. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the effective procurement of materials and ensuring inventory accuracy for both raw materials and finished goods. This role is accountable for the efficient and cost-effective management of inbound materials and accurate inventory transactions across manufacturing sites. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining policies and procedures that foster effective working relationships at all organizational levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Managers, Schedulers, and Project Managers to optimize the flow of materials and supplies.
  • Conduct monthly supply reviews to align with customer demand.
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to complex proposals and supply chain issues.
  • Mentor team members in executing day-to-day procurement and supplier performance management.
  • Facilitate change management and communication regarding new supply chain policies.
  • Evaluate vendor performance to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely deliveries.
  • Maintain and report on a monthly KPI dashboard to senior leadership.
  • Oversee inventory levels and accuracy through cycle-count activities.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers.
  • Negotiate and establish standard costs with suppliers.
  • Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement among team members.
  • Manage risks associated with sole-source suppliers and identify potential alternatives.
  • Ensure production schedules are met through timely procurement and supplier performance management.
  • Validate material usage with the plant to account for breakage and spoilage.
  • Manage supplier risks related to quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts, prices, and timelines with suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Participate in financial meetings to identify spending category challenges.
  • Analyze quotes and bids for price consistency and specification compliance.
  • Coach and train the business and purchasing teams on policies and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; an Associate degree or relevant industry certifications with equivalent experience required.
  • Supervisory and management experience is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficient in planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective ERP and Microsoft Excel skills.
