Job Title: School Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse to join our team at Griffith Public School District. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will provide medical care and support to students, staff, and faculty. This includes assessing health needs, providing first aid, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical care and support to students, staff, and faculty
  • Assess health needs and provide first aid as needed
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Develop and implement individual health care plans (ICHPs) for students
  • Conduct school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing
  • Perform nursing assessments for students who are ill or injured
  • Implement Board policy regarding Blood Borne Pathogens and other Board policies
  • Provide health education to students, parents, and staff
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
Requirements:
  • Registered professional nurse (R.N.) license in the state
  • Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Master's degree in related field preferred
  • Successful experience working with pediatric population, preferably in a community or school setting
Working Conditions:

The School Nurse will work in a standard school building environment and may be exposed to body secretions, blood borne pathogens, medicine, and medicinal supplies. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
