Accounting Clerk Position

The University of New Mexico is seeking a highly organized and customer-focused individual to fill the role of Accounting Clerk in the Chemistry Department. This part-time position will work 20 hours per week in the Chemistry Building, with a schedule to be determined based on employee availability and departmental need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform various clerical and routine accounting tasks, including posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to financial reporting system output, processing payments, and assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports.
  • Respond to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems.
  • Assist in performance of various clerical duties, including purchase of supplies, communication with faculty and students, and reconciliation of transactions.
  • Process reimbursements and honorariums for departmental guests, perform biweekly and monthly time entry, and assist with billing for service units within the department.
  • Assist the administrative team with special events and other needs.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Fluency using Microsoft Excel, proven problem-solving skills, customer service experience, and team player skills are preferred.
