Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct MRI exams and document clinically appropriate results for interpretive physicians and records.
  • Ensure operational excellence and quality of care in the facility.
  • Provide MRI services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain quality of imaging services in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all equipment to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Utilize information and skills necessary to perform assigned maintenance responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate startup procedures, calibration of equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of using hardcopy devices, film-processing equipment, written and/or other recorded formats, and archiving.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Utilize radiation-monitoring devices at all times.
  • Perform proper radiation safety precautions to include providing protection and inquiring if females of childbearing age are pregnant.
  • Semi-annual inspection of the radiation protection devices, under MRI or by plain film.
  • Conduct exams in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate continued competence in caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of each age group's cognitive, physical, motor/sensory adaptation, and radiology-specific intervention.
  • Appropriately modify approach to patients based upon patient age utilizing a developmental perspective.
  • Provide appropriate interventions related to safety issues.
  • Assess for FDA approval for age groups and specific dosing of contrast media.
  • Consider cognitive states in patient education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and documented competence of MRI exams.
  • Document services provided in a thorough and effective manner.
  • Collect appropriate clinical history and correlate findings with procedure being performed.
  • Maintain daily patient logbook.
  • Initial and check orders.
  • Maintain all documentation in accordance with diagnostic division policy and procedure manual.
  • Utilize time effectively.
  • Adhere to established facility/departmental safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.
  • Identify potentially unsafe situations and notify administrator/designee.
  • Complete all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by facility policy.
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of established emergency procedures for department and facility.
  • Practice infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by administrator/designee.
  • Promote effective working relationships to meet the mission/goals and objectives of Radiology Partners and the clinic.
  • Seek consultation/collaboration for complex issues or when unsure.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a radiology program at an accredited school preferred.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • State licensure where required.
  • BCLS required.
  • One to three years of radiology technologist experience preferred.
  • One to three years of experience as a MRI technologist preferred.
  • Utilize MRI equipment to produce images.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with patients, physicians, clients, coworkers, and management staff.
  • Ability to perform in a high productivity, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to document accurately and concisely.
  • Excellent phone and computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information in confidence.
  • HIPAA and OSHA knowledge.
