Job Summary
This role is an exciting opportunity for Medical Technologists and Medical Lab Technicians to work together as part of our clinical laboratory team. As a Laboratory Specialist, you'll perform various patient testing and administrative tasks to support our clinical activities in the UNCHCS. You'll have responsibilities in Central Processing, Bacteriology, and Special Microbiology sections of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct specimen processing and Gram stains
- Rapid antigen testing – Cdiff, Strep, Legionella, Trichomonas, Mono, Crypto
- Rapid molecular/PCR testing – RSV, Flu, Cdiff, Gram Positive Susceptibility
- COVID testing
- Total Lab Automation instrumentation (BD Kiestra), plate reading and organism ID
- Susceptibility testing – automated and KB
- Quality control of instruments, reagents, and media

Work Schedule
We offer flexible scheduling with two options:
- Monday-Friday: 1:00pm-9:30pm OR 3:00pm-11:30pm, rotating weekends (every 4th) and holidays
- Thursday-Sunday OR Wednesday-Saturday: 10:00am OR 11:00am start, 8:30pm or 9:30pm end time and rotating holidays

Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science degree required, with eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire
- Obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible
- No prior experience necessary
