Our community is seeking a Care/Medication Technician to join our team for the 2nd and/or 3rd shift.
The Caregiver/Med Tech position involves delivering hands-on assistance and emotional support to residents while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Caregiver Duties:
- Accountable for a specific group of residents during the shift; consistently monitors their well-being.
- Observes, reports, and documents any changes in residents' conditions, including skin integrity, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary habits, and engagement in activities.
- Responds promptly to security alerts and resident calls.
- Informs supervisors or Health Care Coordinators of any increased care requirements for residents.
- Assists with continence management and ensures proper disposal of all related products to maintain sanitation.
- Serves and collects meal trays, providing assistance as necessary; reports any refusals or appetite issues.
- Maintains cleanliness in residents' rooms and work areas.
- Adheres to high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health protocols.
- Supports residents in maintaining independence and promotes their dignity and safety.
- Actively engages residents in daily living activities (e.g., bathing, dressing, grooming, eating) as directed.
- Encourages participation in life skills and enrichment activities.
- Welcomes and assists all visitors, including family members, guests, and team members.
- Handles resident laundry as assigned.
Medication Technician Duties:
- Reviews service plans to gather essential information about residents.
- Assists and observes the administration of medications and treatments, adhering to the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Documents medication administration, including refusals or missed doses, ensuring confidentiality of resident information.
- Reports any resident concerns to the Nurse or Health Care Coordinator during medication assistance.
- Restocks the medication cart after each medication pass.
- Assists in verifying medications regardless of the packaging system.
- Counts narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse at the beginning of each shift.
- Maintains the Medication Room and treatment carts for cleanliness and organization, ensuring the availability of medications and discarding expired items.
- Participates in the development and monthly updates of the Service Plan.
- Records vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or hazardous materials immediately.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
- Previous experience working with seniors is preferred.
