Job Summary

The STEPS Family Advocate will provide crisis intervention and help stabilize the crisis, which will prevent the removal of child(ren) from the home. This position will conduct face-to-face contact with the family each week and will do follow-up after the services are in place with the family.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts interviews with the families to identify strengths, needs, and general household information.
  • Links at-risk families with services and assists in obtaining referrals.
  • Conducts in-home services; parenting, behavior modification, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, transportation, money management, life skills, case management, and education on community resources.
  • Provides regular contact with families by performing home visits.
  • Documents all case activity, demographic information, and contact with client.
  • Maintains a case file on each family with required documents and submits case files to supervisor for review within required timeframe.
  • Ensures progress is made in service provision and closes cases in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or related field required.
  • One year of experience with at-risk children and families preferred.
  • Valid drivers license.
