Job Summary

The Scale Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, directing, and organizing all activities related to the proper operation of the BU's multiple gatehouses. The Scale Supervisor will provide operational and technical support to each of the BU's gatehouse/scale attendants, customers, and related operations and management teams. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with rules and procedures regarding compliance, health, safety, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate staff activities by planning, organizing, and coordinating workloads and assignments.
  • Monitor service levels and labor costs.
  • Ensure compliance with Republic Services Scale House Procedures and Requirements.
  • Help maintain accounts and contracts by developing and maintaining relationships with the sales team.
  • Provide staff support, including input into the planning process for short- and long-term goal setting.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, standards, and processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service and a supportive and respectful environment.
  • Resolve and report requests and concerns between customers and Finance and Accounting staff.
  • Complete paperwork and reports in a timely and accurate manner and maintain computerized and hard copy records and files.
  • Be responsible for emergency management and respond to and handle emergency situations.
  • Actively participate on committees and/or safety program requirements and attend meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure follow-up to limit the waiting times of trucks entering the site (in partnership with the scale operator).
  • Provide service to all customers that meets or exceeds customer expectations regarding the entire customer experience.
  • Resolve unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes with timely communications to all Scale Operators.
  • Interact with customers to solve and rectify any issues and improve the overall customer experience.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the Company to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty to the Company.
Requirements
  • Three years of directly related experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience leading 5 or more direct reports.
  • Experience handling cash and balancing cash and/or receipts.
  • Experience working in a solid waste and recycling post collection or scale house environment.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft, Kronos, Point of Sale systems, specifically scale operating systems.
  • Accounting or banking experience.
  • Driver's license in good standing and reliable personal vehicle.
