Job Title:
Correctional Clinical Mental Health Therapist

Job Overview:

The Correctional Clinical Mental Health Therapist will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychological services to inmates in a correctional facility. This includes conducting mental health assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapy sessions to address issues such as substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for inmates, including risk assessments and diagnosis of mental health conditions using DSM-V criteria.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of each inmate.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions focusing on issues such as substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders.
  • Respond to mental health crises within the facility and implement deescalation techniques and crisis management interventions.
  • Collaborate with correctional staff, medical professionals, and external agencies to provide comprehensive care to inmates.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all clinical interactions and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional policies.

Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), MFT, LPCC.
  • Experience in a correctional or forensic setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the DSM-V and mental health diagnoses.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
