Position Overview:

Our Women's Health Clinical Service Line is dedicated to delivering exceptional care, outcomes, and experiences for mothers, infants, and families. We offer a comprehensive range of services including perinatology, obstetrical care, newborn care, neonatology, fetal care, gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, urogynecology, and perinatal mental health. The OB/GYN Hospitalist will provide in-house obstetrical coverage for the labor and delivery unit, antepartum and postpartum units, as well as triage areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care for obstetrical patients within a hospital environment.
  • Provide in-house coverage for the labor and delivery unit, antepartum and postpartum units, and triage area.
  • Perform emergency cesarean sections, spontaneous vaginal births, operative vaginal births, postpartum tubal ligations, and conduct rounds on antepartum, laboring, and postpartum patients.
  • Manage overall care for patients without an assigned physician and those needing emergency obstetric interventions.
  • Offer backup support and surgical assistance to staff obstetricians as necessary.
  • Review patient medical histories while gathering, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive health data.
  • Educate and consult with patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
  • Practice with consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy, and legal responsibilities.
  • Engage in a multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
  • Address gynecological concerns in the Emergency Department and possess basic gynecologic surgical skills (D&C and laparoscopy).
  • Casual employment status.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited medical program.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency training program in OB/GYN.
  • Licensure as a Physician in Minnesota required upon hire.
  • BLS Tier 3 - Multisource certification required within 180 days.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN required upon hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire.
  • Prescription Monitoring Program registration required upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.

Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Lifting weights up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently, in accordance with Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy.
