Position Overview:

Our Women's Health Clinical Service Line is dedicated to delivering exceptional care, outcomes, and experiences for mothers, infants, and families. Our comprehensive services encompass perinatology, obstetrical care, neonatal care, gynecology, minimally invasive procedures, urogynecology, and perinatal mental health. The OB/GYN Hospitalist is responsible for providing in-house obstetrical coverage across various units including labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and triage areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care for obstetrical patients within a hospital environment.
  • Ensure in-house obstetrical coverage for the labor and delivery unit, antepartum and postpartum units, and triage area.
  • Perform essential services such as emergency cesarean sections, spontaneous vaginal births, postpartum tubal ligations, and patient rounds.
  • Manage overall care for patients without an assigned physician and those needing emergency obstetric interventions.
  • Provide surgical assistance and backup support to staff obstetricians as required.
  • Evaluate patient medical histories while gathering, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive health data.
  • Offer education, consultation, or intervention to patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
  • Practice with consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy, and legal responsibilities.
  • Engage in a multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
  • Address gynecological concerns from the Emergency Department and possess basic gynecologic surgical skills (D&C and laparoscopy).
  • Casual employment status.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or foreign equivalent from an accredited medical program.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency training program in OB/GYN.
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire.
  • BLS Tier 3 - Multisource certification required within 180 days.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN upon hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire.
  • Prescription Monitoring Program registration required upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.
