Job Title: UTSW Plano Specialty

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position responsible for providing orthoptic consultations, teaching ophthalmology residents, and coordinating the operational activities of the department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ophthalmic technology and orthoptics, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform orthoptic exams on ophthalmology patients, including diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions.
  • Instruct ophthalmology residents, medical students, physician's assistants, and allied health personnel on pediatric ophthalmology.
  • Plan and coordinate the daily operational activities of the department, including direct supervision of the clinic assistant and ophthalmology residents on rotation.
  • Provide patient/family education relating to specific conditions, schedule surgeries for ophthalmology patients, order supplies, etc.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years' experience in ophthalmic technology.
  • At least 2 years' internship in orthoptics.
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of 2-year Orthoptic program.
  • Orthoptic certification (preferred).
