Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Materials Engineer II to join our team in Irvine, CA. As a key member of our materials testing and special inspections team, you will be responsible for reviewing field inspection reports, performing quality control of laboratory test reports, and maintaining logs of non-conformance test and inspection reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and perform quality control of field inspection reports
  • Review and perform quality control of laboratory test reports
  • Maintain logs of non-conformance test and inspection reports
  • Prepare proposals for testing and inspection services, including take-offs and cost estimates
  • Prepare mix designs for review and approval
  • Prepare project close-out documentation and reports
  • Enhance HMA testing capabilities in the Irvine lab
  • Assist with internal FIMS and LIMS systems to control workflow and deadlines for lab testing
  • Assist with performing lab testing as needed

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geology
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a civil, construction, or geotechnical environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of test methods
  • Strong problem-analysis skills and the ability to develop alternative strategies
  • Experience overseeing materials testing and special inspections
  • Prior experience in quality management
  • Understanding of accreditation policies for relevant agencies, including Caltrans, DSA, AMRL, CCRL, IAS, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • California EIT license or ability to obtain one within a year from start of employment
