Lead Materials and Process Engineer

Supernal is seeking a highly skilled Lead Materials and Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing conventional and novel materials and process solutions to support our vehicle components.

This role will work closely with our partners to ensure that delivered hardware meets requirements and leads to the certification and production of new AAM vehicles. You will be responsible for coordinating the development of adhesively bonded joints and assemblies, building internal material specifications and process specifications, and leading and coordinating testing for method development, materials characterization, and design validation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science and engineering, with experience in thermoset fiber composites, thermoplastic fiber composites, structural bonding, adhesives, plastics, physical and mechanical material characterization, and composite material allowables generation and certification.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement conventional and novel materials and process solutions
  • Coordinate the development of adhesively bonded joints and assemblies
  • Build internal material specifications and process specifications
  • Lead and coordinate testing for method development, materials characterization, and design validation
  • Work closely with partners to ensure delivered hardware meets requirements
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in materials science or engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in materials science and engineering, with a focus on composites and structural bonding
  • Strong background in materials science and engineering, with experience in thermoset fiber composites, thermoplastic fiber composites, structural bonding, adhesives, plastics, physical and mechanical material characterization, and composite material allowables generation and certification
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
