Engineering Opportunities at Brex

The Engineering division at Brex is tasked with developing innovative products and infrastructure that cater to both internal teams and external clients. Our teams are diverse and collaborative, focused on continuous improvement and learning. Together, we strive to create robust and scalable systems that fuel Brex's rapid expansion and support our clients' success.

Your Contribution

As a member of the Application Infrastructure team, you will be instrumental in streamlining the software development process for all Brex product engineers. Your responsibilities will include designing and maintaining platforms and tools that empower our Product Engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions with efficiency. This role provides the chance to engage with a variety of technologies, including GraphQL APIs, remote development environments, and pre-merge testing.

We seek an individual who is adept at navigating complex systems, multiple programming languages, and various levels of abstraction. Your innovative mindset, analytical approach, and commitment to excellence will be key in helping Brex expand into new markets and sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance robust platforms and tools to expedite Brex's product development cycle
  • Oversee and improve critical API infrastructure managing substantial request volumes
  • Implement enhancements for reliability and performance within our backend architecture
  • Uphold high engineering standards and ensure consistency across codebases and processes

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in a software engineering capacity
  • Expertise in GraphQL, especially with Federated GraphQL
  • Proficient in Kotlin (Java and Scala are also acceptable)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Experience in Platform or Full-Stack development
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management abilities
  • Office presence required 2 days per week

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Bazel or similar multi-language build systems
  • Proficiency in Golang, particularly in developing CLIs
  • Experience in extending IDE functionalities

Compensation Overview

The anticipated salary range for this role is $192,000 - $240,000, with additional compensation based on various factors. Brex offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity and other benefits, ensuring a fulfilling career with us.
