Certified Medication Technician

The Certified Medication Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed RN. This role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and administer prescribed medications to patients, adhering to all Facility policies and procedures and Pharmacy Board rules and regulations.
- Document medication administration on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and report any adverse reactions to a supervisor.
- Participate in data collection, medication audits, and performance improvement activities related to medication administration.
- Reorder and replace medications and supplies as needed to perform routine job responsibilities.
- Ensure the confidentiality and rights of patients, adhering to HIPAA Regulations.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
- Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations.
- Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
- Must be alert at all times, paying close attention to details.
This role requires working in a clean, well-lit environment with fluctuating temperatures. The employee must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds, push and pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds, and walk and stand for extended periods. The employee must also be able to reach or bend frequently and have visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate equipment.
Work Environment/TravelThis job primarily operates independently in a facility. The employee may be exposed to some level of risk and/or harm by inmates, including exposure to blood-borne pathogens. The employee is expected to work in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize the risk of danger and/or harm to themselves or other employees.
