We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Sovah Health - Danville. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and accurate preparation of sterile medications for our patients.
Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in providing medication and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
- Complete extra sterile compounding training and maintain competence in safe sterile compounding procedures.
- Work in sterile compounding and chemo/oncology rooms, preparing sterile products and medications.
- Train other staff members on sterile compounding procedures and assist with yearly competencies for pharmacy technicians.
- Lead monthly cleanings and train others to assist.
- Receive and store incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.
- Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
- Fills medication carts on a daily basis; repackages bulk medications.
- Prepares orders, such as intravenous solutions and admixtures.
- Maintains inventory for the pharmacy department, including supplies, and reorders them accordingly.
- Refills and maintains all pharmacy automation, including the robot and dispensing machines.
- Monitors and documents room temperatures to ensure they are within appropriate ranges.
- Restocks, updates, and replaces drug boxes, trays, and crash carts in a timely manner.
- Compounds, packs, and labels medications.
- Processes records of medications and supplies dispensed to patients, computes charges, and enters them into the computer.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified pharmacy technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy required.
- Sovah Health Chemo Certified (Sovah Health competency).
