Mediation Programs Director

The Mediation Center of Dutchess County is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable individual to lead our civil mediation programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for implementing and developing new programming to meet emerging community needs. Your primary focus will be on direct client contact, including conducting intakes, coordinating case reviews, mediating cases, and managing agreements. You will also support newly trained mediators in their skill development, manage our roster of volunteer mediators, and serve as our liaison with various courts throughout Dutchess County.
This role requires a proactive and adaptable individual who can anticipate needs in a dynamic environment and handle them with minimal direction. You will work closely with our Executive Director and engage with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and social strata.
About MCDCWe are a volunteer-driven nonprofit providing alternative dispute resolution services to individuals, families, and groups. Our mission is to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts through the Transformative Mediation model. We are committed to making a positive impact in our community.
Job Requirements- Qualifications
- Professional experience in domestic violence (minimum of 1 year)
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field. Advanced degrees welcome.
- Equivalent education and experience considered
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience with strong emphasis on hands-on involvement
- Proven ability to organize and schedule effectively
- A valid driver's license and a car with ability to travel throughout Dutchess County (mileage reimbursement provided)
- Willingness to fill in as a mediator in court (extensive training provided)
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs on short notice
- Ability to work occasional nights or weekends with advance notice
- Excellent writing skills
- Proficiency in office software
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish (preferred but not required)
