Job Summary

The Director of Quality and Patient Safety is responsible for leading all aspects of quality, clinical risk management, and patient safety for St. Luke's University Health Network. This individual will coordinate performance improvement activities, facilitate process and system changes to enhance patient safety, and collaborate with network partners to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality and patient safety goals, benchmarks, and initiatives to achieve top decile performance and outcomes.
  • Investigate adverse clinical events, analyze root causes, and implement risk prevention and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate the Patient Complaint and Grievance process, review complaints, and provide recommendations to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Oversee Infection Control Preventionists, ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations, and coordinate licensure surveys and complaint investigations.
  • Facilitate organizational improvement activities using the PDCA methodology, recommend tools, and assist teams throughout the improvement process.
  • Provide education, consultative services, and technical assistance to practice leaders, performance improvement committees, and service line improvement teams.
  • Conduct concurrent reviews of literature and websites to provide teams and service lines with up-to-date evidence and best practice recommendations.
  • Collaborate with decision support staff to determine performance metrics for key process and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Implement process changes to achieve improved performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field.
  • Master's degree preferred or in progress with an identified completion date within 4 years.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) within 2 years of hire.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in clinical care of patients, preparing comprehensive written reports, and making effective training/education presentations.
  • Excellent project management skills and current professional licensure in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, based on work location.
