We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a Social Worker, Neuro Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and provide intervention and treatment as indicated to patients and families.
- Work effectively as part of a social work and interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care.
- Provide clinical services to patients and families that address psychosocial, environmental, age-specific, and cultural issues.
- Collaborate with and provide social work consultation to other disciplines within the hospital and community.
- Participate in Departmental, Hospital, and community task forces and committees.
- See TSC and Pediatric Epilepsy patients and their families, developing comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments responsive to age-appropriate and cultural needs and concerns.
- Follow up with families seen in above clinics with supports, resources, and service referrals, as needed.
- Work effectively as part of a social work and interdisciplinary patient care team to provide psychosocial consultation on patient/family care and management.
- Facilitate the appropriate and efficient use of hospital resources; coordinate care and hospital social work staff (inpatient and outpatient).
- Provide mandated assessments when abuse is suspected (child, disabled adult, elder) and specialized safety assessment when violence is suspected.
- Assess patient/family learning needs, styles, and readiness. Educate patients/families based on treatment plan, identifies barriers to care, diversity issues, and learning styles.
- May teach in Departmental and Hospital seminars, workshops, and rounds.
- Collaborate and consult with patient, families, and providers within the hospital and community to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Refer to and collaborate with Departmental programs, outside agencies, facilities, payors, and other relevant community resources.
- Takes responsibility for own administrative duties, including timely and appropriate documentation in patient medical records, timely and accurate daily reporting of activities via the Department's information system (HPBS) and Hospital's scheduling systems (Epic), and accurate reporting of time worked.
- Attends and participates in Staff Meetings and interdisciplinary meetings/rounds.
- Participates in Departmental and Hospital committees. May chair committees as assigned by leadership team.
- Adheres to the profession's clinical standards and Code of Ethics.
- Adheres to the Department and Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
- Promotes Departmental and Hospital public relations. Provides risk management.
- Adheres to Departmental and Hospital quality/safety standards.
- Maintains patient/family confidentiality.
- Is responsible for own professional development. Attends pertinent continuing education and professional activities related to job responsibilities and career goals.
- Keeps current with social work and healthcare developments pertinent to job and profession. Complies with licensure requirements.
- Master's of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
- Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) required.
- Previous social work experience in a pediatric setting strongly preferred.
