About the Role

This internship is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing engineering. As an intern, you will have the chance to work on various projects, acquire knowledge, and showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and improve safety at the site through the use of technology, work cell redesign, improved ergonomics, and other means.
  • Help deliver world-class quality by writing work instructions, completing PFMEAs, setting up FAI/inspection criteria, poke-yoke, error proofing, and managing ECNs and CAPAs as they arise.
  • Deliver capacity improvements to the operations by identifying and executing projects to remove bottlenecks and meet customer demand.
  • Execute Lean Manufacturing concepts through time studies, balancing assembly operations, value stream mapping, 3P new production lines or changes, implementing poke-yoke, and driving improvements to material scheduling, delivery, and presentation at the site.
  • Plan and execute multiple projects at the same time, utilizing good project management skills by managing risk, and understanding critical path and dependencies to meet project goals on time.
  • Lead change at the site and work collaboratively with stakeholders, manage phase in / phase out of changes, and have robust follow through on changes to ensure success.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering/science field, in the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
