About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team at ABB. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various projects, acquire knowledge by performing tasks, and showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and improve safety at the site through the use of technology, work cell redesign, improved ergonomics, and other means.
  • Assist in delivering world-class quality by writing work instructions, completing Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), setting up First Article Inspection (FAI)/inspection criteria, poke-yoke, error proofing, and managing Engineering Change Notifications (ECN) and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
  • Deliver capacity improvements to operations by identifying and executing kaizens to remove bottlenecks and meet customer demand.
  • Develop expertise in lean manufacturing and execute time studies, balance assembly operations, value stream map, 3P new production lines or changes, implement poke-yoke, and drive improvements to material scheduling, delivery, and presentation at the site.
  • Plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing good project management skills to manage risk, understand critical path and dependencies to meet project goals on time.
  • Lead change at the site, working collaboratively with stakeholders, managing phase in/phase out of changes, and ensuring robust follow-through on changes to ensure success.
  • Contribute to or lead changes and projects related to traceability, production dashboards, or andon/escalation systems at the site.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or mechanical engineering in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality.
  • Collaboration with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
